Gardening on the Costa del Sol

Growing your own vegetables, herbs and flowers on the Costa del Sol is a challenge. The long dry summer and short, sometimes not that damp, autumn and spring with a very short mild, often dry winter, presents its own watering challenges. The often clay soil is yet another obstacle. These articles are written by somebody that has had a huerto, or allotment, on the banks of the Rio Manilva at Sabinillas since 2010 and on it grows a wide range of vegetables, fruit and flowers. What to grow, when to plant or sow it, what not to grow month by month.
