With around 320 days of sunshine a year, the Costa de Almeria has been labelled Spain’s sunniest spot. Things start warming up around Easter time, with temperatures nudging up to 20°C. July and August see the mercury regularly hitting 30°C. Cooling sea breezes stop things getting too hot, though.
Until recently, Almeria was not as well known to tourists as the likes of Malaga, Sevillle, and Granada, but this is starting to change and growth as a major holiday destination is evident.
Almeria port is located in the centre of the city and offers several crossings each day to destinations in Morocco, Algeria and Melilla.
The main terminal building has the offices of all the ferry companies operating services there and is open 24 hours a day.
