July is the hottest month in Malaga with an average temperature of 25°C (77°F) and the coldest is January at 13°C (55°F) with the most daily sunshine hours at 11 in July. Those figures disquise the fact that daytime temperatures do reach 31°C in July and August. The wettest month is November with an average of 101mm of rain. The best month to swim in the sea is in August when the average sea temperature is 24°C (75°F).
Malaga has been a port for 3000 years. It is situated within minutes walking of rhe city centre. Cruise ships regularly stop here for passenger excursions. Many now use the port as a point of arrival and departure.
There is also a ferry to the Spanish island of Melilla.
