American Club Of Estepona in Estepona, Málaga province
About our Business
The American Club is so called as back in the 70’s a few Estepona/Americans used to get together and at that time were a part of the Costa del Sol American club.
The guys from Estepona used to meet up and swap stories and books while enjoying a few beers together.
They decided to rent premises and charge a nominal fee for drinks and a library was set up, this was before the days of satellite TV and Kindle books. The club was initially only for Americans but soon others wanted to be a part of this friendly little club, so Friends of the Library were admitted, enter the British and International members. By now the group were beginning to make a small profit and so started to give donations to many charities. Over the years we have given washing machines and pillows to the old folk’s home, after a marvellous ‘Razmatazz street festival half a million pesetas were given to APRONA, the home for autistic and downs syndrome children in Estepona.
We have had a special relationship with CUDECA the ‘Unique in Andalucía’ hospice and as a club have proudly donated 1000’s of € over the years to assist them in there work.
Over the years many of the American folk have left the area and the club is mainly run by British residents, but we welcome international and Spanish members.
We still have an extensive library which is free as well as a selection of talking books and DVD’s.
We host bridge games and there are sewing and art classes added to that there is a great pool team who enjoy playing most evenings. AA holds regular meetings every Thursday evening.
During the year we have car rallies, lunch gatherings and we host parties for birthdays and other events.
