Imagine arriving with your loved one in the small white village of Bédar in Almeria province, Andalucia. The sky is alpine blue, the air crystal clear. Your accommodation is a suite at Castellon de Bédar, overlooking the village. From the balcony and through the windows of your suite, on your right hand are the rugged peaks of the Sierra Cabrera and on the left the tops of the Sierra Lisbona. Ahead is the rolling plain leading to the coast at Garrucha and Mojacar and beyond is the deep blue, glittering, Meditteranean Sea. Settle into your luxurious suite with a bottle of ice-cold Cava then join Clare in the jewellery craft workshop.
Clare is a qualified Goldsmith. In 2016 she was commissioned to design and produce the Prince's Trust Anniversary Trophy that she then presented to His Royal Highness, Prince Charles. Princess Diana was also a favourite client. Now she has moved to Andalucia with her husband, Shane, and combined select boutique accommodation (there is only one suite), with her passion; teaching and lecturing of Jewellery Making to people of all ages.
We also offer a unique package for couples to come and stay and make each other’s wedding bands, which then will be hallmarked in the year of their wedding. For more details contact us.
You do not have to stay in the suite. Courses are available to anybody. On the first day, total beginners create their own silver ring to a unique design by Clare. Recruits then design and make their own pieces under the tutelage of Clare. Work may be jewellery or something else. One student made a complete chess set. Another made a Nativity Scene, a Belén in Spanish, in twelve individual silver nativity figures. Each figure was given to a separate branch of his family who bring the pieces together to make a whole, each year, at Christmas, when they reunite.
People coming to stay in the Cabrera suite have the option of making the silver twisted ring while with us and from there to making any items they want.
