Salobrena beach in Salobrena Municipality in Granada Province Andalucia

By Nick Nutter | 24 Jan 2018
Salobrena Beach

Introduction

Salobrena beach is split in two by the Penon de Salobrena which is a rocky outcropping. El Penon was the site of a Phoenician trading post, the sea levels were considerably lower then. Behind the beach there is the white village of Salobrena itself moulding itself to a lump of rock that emerges from the alluvial plain. Crowning the rock is a castle. The beaches themselves are narrow but sandy and well served by chirinquitos and restaurants.
