Please do not drive to this event. Share a taxi from Duquesa or Sabinillas. Manilva's liveliest event in the calendar. This is Manilva's fiesta to celebrate the gathering in of the grape harvest. The grape treading is a typical event during the harvest. The first grape juice of the year is extracted and offered to friends and visitors.
The Wine Harvest in Manilva is unique on the Costa del Sol and takes place at the end of the harvest. Of note is the daytime fair, which was held for the first time in 1983.
Programme - Saturday 31st August
The Harvest Festival will begin on Saturday, August 31 with the celebration, at seven in the afternoon, of a Holy Mass in honour of Our Lady of Sorrows, sung by the Choir of the Municipal School of Music in the Church of Santa Ana.
After the mass, the virgin will leave in procession accompanied by the Manilva Music Band and the grape offering will take place. Then, as every year, the contest will be held to determine the heaviest cluster.
At ten o'clock at night there will be music and dancing on Calle Mar, by the Deley trio and the Latidos group.
Programme - Sunday 1st September
This day is considered the biggest vintage day, also known as Domingo Rociero. You can enjoy the tasting of wine and grapes from the vineyards surrounding Manilva. It all starts after the opening of the day fair at 1:00 p.m. on Calle Mar.
From two in the afternoon there will be music and dance by the Deley trio and the Latidos group, which will delight the audience with a show that will take place on the different stages installed along Calle Mar.
In the afternoon, there will be a parade of horsemen organized with the collaboration of the Peña Caballista de Manilva and at seven in the afternoon the traditional grape treading and tasting of the first juice will be held in the Plaza de la Vendimia.
