Costa Tropical

The Costa Tropical runs along the coast of Granada province from La Herredura to La Rabita. What makes this Costa unique is that the Sierra Nevada mountain range extends to the coast, resulting in cliffs and secluded coves. Only at Motril does the landscape widen to an alluvial plain. The very narrow coastal strip means there is no high rise development. The towns are small resorts and villages depending on agriculture for their livelihoods. The name derives from the tropical fruit that grows in this area. The climate during winter is warmer and wetter than other areas of Andalucia, the mountains shelter the coast and produce a microclimate.
