Salar de los Canos is just north of Aquavera Parque Acuatico, with easy access from the AI 7107 at Vera. A large area of salinas is home to a varied selection of waders. During the winter months, after rain, two large lagoons form. Two hides, built as watchtowers, stationed on the edge of the salinas, give a good view over the lagoons. Both are on the edge of the main road with lots of parking opposite in the Supermercados Consum car park. The lagoons are north of the hides so morning is the best time to visit with the sun behind you.

On Sunday 26th January 2020, the southernmost lagoon had the most activity. Grey herons on the far bank watched over flocks of pochard, white-headed ducks, coots, cormorants, little grebe, moorhen and shovelers. Gallinules stalked the edges of the reeds. A lone marsh harrier soared overhead looking for breakfast.
